The Tourism Board will hold the 2007 Hong Kong Shopping Festival June 30 to August 31 to tie in with the Special Administrative Region's 10th anniversary.

The Mass Transit Railway will join the campaign for the first time by introducing a guide featuring shopping, dining and sightseeing recommendations in major tourism districts along the rail network, and a collection of shopping offers from MTR station shops. Visitors who buy the MTR Tourist One-Day Pass or Airport Express Tourist Octopus will receive a free copy.

Different sectors across the city have also confirmed their participation. They will extend special offers for local residents and visitors, some of which will be themed around the anniversary. More than 200 eateries will offer special drinks or dishes at $10 each.

The city's major tourism attractions, including Hong Kong Disneyland, Ngong Ping 360 and Ocean Park, will introduce a variety of promotions. Ocean Park will arrange its two panda mascots, Le Le and Ying Ying, to perform at shopping centres in major tourism districts.

special three-day, two-night room packages and courtesy offers from 30 hotels, most of which will also arrange fabulous gifts for children born in 1997; and,

10 local travel agencies to offer discounted tourism products for visitors in July, such as complimentary tours for customers born on July 1, 1997, half price for those born in 1997 and "buy one, get one free" tour packages.

Trade associations and retail organisations will stage themed activities and product expos, while several dining districts will run festive activities.

The Symphony of Lights show will be enhanced with fireworks displays July 1 to 8 to celebrate the anniversary. Special pyrotechnics for the harbour extravaganza will also be arranged every Saturday from July 14 to the end of August.
